401(k) Calculator (2026 Limits)

Project what your 401(k) could grow to by retirement from your salary, how much you put in, your employer match and an assumed rate of return. Contributions are capped at the 2026 IRS limits, including catch-up amounts for people 50 and older.

Estimate only, not tax or financial advice. It assumes your salary, the IRS limits and the return stay the same every year, and shows amounts in today’s dollars before tax. It does not model fees, vesting or plan-specific rules; check your plan documents.

How this works

For 2026 the IRS lets you defer up to $24,500 into a 401(k). If you are 50 or older you can add a catch-up of $8,000 (so $32,500 total), and if you are 60, 61, 62 or 63 the catch-up is $11,250 instead. Employer match does not count toward your own deferral limit. Each year the balance grows by your return, then that year’s contributions are added.
