If you have an account with Upstox, buy and sell orders in Equities can be placed in the following way.
Also note that to trade in derivatives (options, futures) or commodities, one needs to activate these segments separately by submitting respective forms to Upstox.
In this article, we will see how to place Buy or Sell orders on Upstox Web Pro Website.
Placing orders on Upstox Web Pro Website
Log in to https://pro.upstox.com/login by entering your User Id, Password, and Date of Birth
You will be redirected to this page after login
Search and Add your desired index or stock to the Watchlist available on the left side of the screen
Here I am searching Reliance stock and adding it to the Watchlist
Once it is added, scroll to the selected stock and click on the ‘B’ (Buy) button if you want to buy [or on the ‘S’(Sell) button if you want to sell]
Below popup appears after clicking on ‘B’ Button
In this screen, first select the order type: Simple, Cover, Bracket, AMO for Intraday and Delivery (i.e. Carrying stocks for more than 1 day)
(Details of various Order Types will be covered in another article. For explanation, I will select the most commonly used order type ‘Simple’’)
Select ‘Intraday’ if you want to trade the stock for the current day only. If you select intraday, you will have to sell this stock before day end else it will be automatically squared-off(sold) by the broker’s system some time before day end.
Or select ‘Delivery’ if you want to hold the stock for more than 1 day or for the long term. Here I am selecting Delivery.
Enter the Number of stocks that you want to buy in Qty. ( Quantity) field and then the Price at which you want to buy it. This price denotes the maximum limit price which you are willing to buy the stocks as the Limit order is selected below.
If you want to buy at whatever the current market price then select the Market option from the dropdown list
Click on the Review Buy Order button
Then click the Place Buy Order button on the next screen
Stock will then appear in your ‘Holdings’ section.
