Placing orders on Zerodha Kite Web Portal
Log in to kite.zerodha.com by entering your User Id, Password, and Pin
You will be redirected to your Dashboard
Search and Add your desired index or stock to the Watchlist available on the left side of the screen
E.g. Here I am searching Reliance stock and adding it to the Watchlist
Once it is added, scroll to the selected stock and click on the ‘B’ (Buy) button if you want to buy [or on the ‘S’(Sell) button if you want to sell]
Note: You can also directly buy (in the previous step) without adding a stock to the watchlist
Below popup appears after clicking on ‘B’ Button
In this screen, first select the order type: Regular, Cover, Bracket, AMO
(Details of various Order Types will be covered in another article. For explanation, I will select the most commonly used order type ‘Regular’)
Then select ‘Intraday (MIS)’ if you want to trade the stock for the current day only. If you select intraday, you will have to sell this stock before day end else it will be automatically squared-off(sold) by the broker’s system some time before day end.
Or select ‘Longterm (CNC)’ if you want to hold the stock for more than 1 day or for the long term. Here I am selecting Longterm
Enter the Number of stocks that you want to buy in Qty. ( Quantity) field and then the Price at which you want to buy it. This price denotes the maximum limit price which you are willing to buy the stocks as the Limit order is selected below.
If you want to buy at whatever the current market price then select the Market radio button below
Click on the Buy button
Stock will then appear in your ‘Holdings’ section
